Seminole casinos in Florida have launched new table games, including roulette and craps, at their casinos, and to commigrate the event, celebrities such as Jimmy Johnson, Willie Smith, and others were seen placing bets on the new gaming options.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida has a compact with the state that allows them to operate domestic casinos on tribal land throughout the region. Governor DeSantis celebrated the approval of the gaming compact with the Seminole tribe in August of 2021.
The 2021 compact allowed domestic sports betting in the state of Florida alongside the addition of roulette and craps to the casino. The updated gaming compact was challenged by two pari-mutual companies in a court of law and suspended the launch until the Supreme Court dismissed the challenge in favor of the compact.
How Many Casinos Are In Florida?
There are currently seven casinos in the state of Florida, six of which are owned by the Seminole Tribe and one by the Miccosukee Tribe. Florida has no commercial casinos as the compact with the state restricts those business entities.
